Kayitesi Rusera Emily started her Bachelor degree in Law in 1978. She also holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Paris II in France.
She served on various posts in Rwanda and abroad. President of the Parliamentary Woman Forum, Commissioner for women in the Rwanda Patriotic Front, Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Plan in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire), Advocate, Employee of the United Nations Organization for Women and Judge to the East African Court of Appeal. She was appointed Supreme Court Judge in 2003.
