Supreme Court
The Supremecourt is the highest Jurisdication and it is headed by the President. It coordinates and oversees the activiries of all courts and tribunals while ensuring judiciary independence.
High Court and Chambers
The High Court is headed by the President,It has four (4) chambers on secondment based respectively at Musanze, Nyanza, Rwamagana and Rusizi and they are all headed by presidents.
The bench of the High Court is established in the City of Kigali. Its jurisdiction covers the whole territory of the Republic of Rwanda
Intermediate Courts
The seat of each intermediate court is established by the Superior Council of the Judiciary after consultation with the Councils of the concerned Districts. The organic law N° 51/2008 of 09/09/2008 determines the jurisdiction, the organisation, and functioning. Each intermediate court tries civil and criminal cases.
Primary Courts
There are sixty (60) Primary Courts in Rwanda with each Primary Court having two judges and a registrar.
There are Primary Courts in the city of Kigali, The west, East, North and South of the Country.
