The Secretary General of the Supreme Court is governed by the General Statute of the Rwandan Public Service.
He/ She is appointed and dismissed by a Presidential Decree upon request of the President of the Supreme Court.
The employees appointed to work in different services of the General Secretary’s Office of the Supreme Court are governed by the General statute of the Rwandan Public Service.
The Office of the Secretary General of the Supreme Court has the following duties:
- Supervising the planning, organization, assessment and supervision of administrative activities of the services of the Supreme Court;
- Initiating measures aiming at the modernization and the rational exploitation of information and technology techniques for a better functioning of the services of the Supreme Court;
- Supervising the management of the support staff;
- Supervising the material and financial management of the Supreme Court;
- Checking the files in order to enlighten the President of the Supreme Court on the technical aspects of the proceedings submitted to him/her/ for stamping or signing,
- Contributing to the good management of the cooperation files;
- To ensure the linkage of the Supreme Court with the other state institutions , the civil society, development associations and social partners under the supervision of the President of the Supreme Court;
- Supervising, controlling the preparation and the execution of the budget,;
- Authorizing mission expenses inside and outside of the country of the Supreme Court staff ;
- Coordinating the programming of activities of the support staff of the Courts and Tribunals;
- Initiating incentive measures aiming at increasing the productivity and the performance of the support staff;
- Producing quarterly and annual reports of activities.

The Secretary General of the Supreme Court of Rwanda serves under the direction of the Chief Justice.
She holds a BSc. degree of Makerere University, Kampala and a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from MSM (Maasticht School of Management).
She has skills in public administration and management, gained through the various high level government posts held.
She has long experience in human rights, women promotion, gender issues and in grass-root mobilization and networking for development.
She has participated in various conflict management and peace building forums in Africa.
She is in charge of day today administration of the Judiciary.
