Chief Justice Urges Judicial Integrity and Efficiency During Judges’ Swearing-In Ceremony

Presiding over the swearing-in ceremony for new judges, Rt. Hon. Chief Justice Domitilla Mukantaganzwa emphasized the profound responsibility that accompanies the judicial oath, describing it as a pledge to uphold citizens’ rights and freedoms.

Addressing the judges, the Chief Justice highlighted the importance of judicial independence and fairness, urging them to resist biases and the influence of rumors. She called on the judiciary to deliver rulings grounded in the law and prioritize the swift resolution of cases involving serious crimes such as murder, genocide ideology, and corruption.

To enhance judicial efficiency, Chief Justice Mukantaganzwa encouraged the adoption of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms like mediation and plea-bargaining, as well as the use of legal precedents.

The ceremony saw the swearing-in of key judicial leaders, including the President and Vice President of the Commercial Court, along with the Presidents and Vice Presidents of Intermediate Courts.
